I'm a civil and structural engineer that has worked on projects on four continents targeted toward sustainable development, affordable housing, natural disaster risk reduction & resilience, and effective education & health care facilities.

I have led both non-profit NGOs and for-profit social enterprises, building local leadership & capacity around the world.

Engineering is a powerful problem-solving tool, but identifying the problems to solve requires a wider vision. Here are some of my interests:

How can we make vulnerable communities more resilient against natural disasters?

How can we make safe and comfortable housing accessible to the 1.6 billion people worldwide who lack it?

How can we facilitate sustainable development and economic prosperity via capacity development in communities?

How can we create healthy medical facilities and inspirational educational facilities in areas that are remote or resource-poor?

How can we build prosperous, self-managing communities via all of the above?
