Chandler Jay is a two-time generation native to New York City who began putting his musical talents to work in 2011. He attended the prestigious Ethical Culture Fieldston School on midtown and Riverdale campuses, joining an elite group of musical alumni including the late, great Gil Scott Heron. Raised on the Upper Westside in an apartment run by women, Chandler Jay learned from his three older sisters, his aunt, and the matriarch of the household, Chandler Jay’s grandma.

A well-known basketball star in high school and NCAA prospect, Chandler Jay worked to balance his athletic prowess with his creative musical ability. In 2012, Chandler was blessed with a beautiful son, Logan, and vowed to focus on creating something original and artistic that they could both be proud of. He has dedicated hours to writing screenplays, comedy sketches and countless new songs. Influenced by the deep tradition of Jazz with touches of everything from African rhythms to classical themes and eclectic soul sounds, Chandler Jay brings us a kind of hip-hop that has yet to be heard. Bridging together a versatile range of genres to form a unique sound, Chandler Jay’s music might leave contemporary musicologists stumped. In addition, he has acted as an advisor and confidant to independent artists.
