Chao Zhai received the B.Sc. degree in Communication Engineering and M.Sc. degree in Communication and Information System, both from Shandong University, Jinan, China, in 2007 and 2010, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, in 2013. From July 2011 to January 2012, he was a visiting Ph.D. student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. From January 2013 to June 2013, he was a visiting Ph.D. student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. From April 2014 to September 2016, he was a full-time post-doctor at Shandong University. Then, he joined the School of Information Science and Engineering, Shandong University, as an Associate Professor.

Dr. Zhai was a recipient of the CSC-UNSW Joint PhD Student Program Scholarship awarded by China Scholarship Council and the University of New South Wales. He was supported by China Postdoctoral International Exchange Program for his postdoc research.
