Charis A. Goff

Charis A. Goff has a passion for nonprofit development, community engagement, and volunteerism. Currently as the Director of Volunteer Engagement at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, she leads strategy and management of volunteer programs and corporate group engagement at 26 clubs throughout the region. She also serves as the Executive Vice President of the National Urban League Young Professionals. She assumed this role after a 2 year term as NULYP Programs Chair, leading national service initiatives and recognition programs across the country. She is an Advisory Board member of the Greater Washington Urban League and Past President of Thursday Network – Greater Washington Urban League Young Professionals. In her work with GWUL, she managed a team focused on volunteerism, philanthropy and membership development through signature community service, scholarship, mentoring and advocacy programs. As chapter president in 2015, she led Thursday Network to be recognized as the National Chapter of Excellence, as well as being personally recognized as Distinguished President of the Year. Thursday Network was proud to add 2 signature fundraising events and an expanded advocacy program under her leadership. A member of YP since 2010, Charis also previously served as Thursday Network Vice President, Membership Chair and Civic Engagement Lead. Locally, she is currently an active member of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta - Young Professionals.

A native Washingtonian, Charis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Hampton University. She also received her Master of Arts from Old Dominion University, with an emphasis on Media, Politics, and Popular Culture, and a Non-Profit Management Executive Certificate from Georgetown University. She has completed a number of leadership development programs, including the National Urban League Emerging Leaders program. She is currently a fellow with the Georgia Women’s Policy Institute, a competitive program to equip advocates to lead on legislative issues of importance to women and girls in the state of Georgia.

Charis serves on the Board of Directors of the Black Swan Academy, a non-profit organization in the District of Columbia that concentrates its efforts on empowering Black youth through Civic Leadership and Engagement. She has been recognized as an emPower Player by emPower Magazine and by the Prince George’s County Social Innovation Fund’s Forty Under 40 in their Public Service category.
