Dr. Charity Welch is a dynamic leader whose distinguished career spans both public and private sectors. As a scholar-practitioner, she has successfully bridged the gap between education and social science research, translating evidence-based findings into meaningful policy and practice.

Currently, Dr. Welch serves as co-owner of a real estate development company while also teaching at the University of Denver. Prior to this role, she held key academic leadership positions, including Assistant Dean of Graduate Education and Director of Graduate Education. Her extensive leadership experience also includes executive roles within both K–12 and higher education institutions.

Throughout her career, Dr. Welch has been actively engaged in advancing educational excellence through federally funded national centers. She was selected to serve as both an intern and grants reviewer for the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Discretionary Grants, contributing to the evaluation and advancement of innovative educational initiatives.

Dr. Welch has also demonstrated exceptional expertise in educational assessment, leading teams responsible for developing and implementing large-scale state assessment contracts across multiple states. In addition, her work in the disability field equipped her with valuable insights into fostering inclusive workplaces and creating environments where all individuals can thrive.

Her academic credentials reflect a deep commitment to education, leadership, and lifelong learning. Dr. Welch earned a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Virginia and both a B.S. and M.Ed. from Coppin State University. She has further strengthened her leadership expertise through executive and leadership certificate programs at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Hampton University, and Goucher College. Her impact as a leader was further recognized when Harvard invited her to facilitate discussions on two separate occasions within the very program she attended.

A respected scholar, Dr. Welch has presented her education policy research at Oxford University and has made significant contributions to the field through her scholarly service. For more than a decade, she has served as an Associate Editor for JABSE, a reviewer for the National Education Policy Center at the University of Colorado, a manuscript reviewer for JNE, and a grant reviewer for the U.S. Department of Education. Her leadership in board development was recognized by the NAABMC, an organization dedicated to promoting inclusive board membership and governance practices.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Welch is a dedicated community servant who has contributed her time and expertise to numerous boards, task forces, and committees. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and has held several leadership positions within Rotary District 7390, including Club President and Assistant Governor.

Dr. Welch's career reflects an enduring commitment to education, leadership, inclusion, and community engagement. Through her service, scholarship, and professional leadership, she continues to make a meaningful impact across multiple sectors and communities.
