Charlie WYNN
Artist and Teacher in Charlotte, NC
I'm an elementary art educator and mixed media painter and artist living in Charlotte, NC. As of late, I've been exploring the body as a tool and embellishment as Black queer preservation and resistance.
As for my teaching pedagogy, it is important for me to center the student and help them navigate the art classroom as their studio and space to glean skills applicable outside of the classroom. I am most influenced by post-modernist art education theory, crip theory, critical race theory, Black queer theory, and Black feminist thought.
I hold a B.A. in Studio Art and M.A. in Liberal Studies. As a scholar, my focus is on curatorial and museum studies and African, African American and African Diaspora Art.
My interests include contemporary art, conceptual art, process art, performance art, institutional critique, Black feminist/womanist theories, Black queer art, and queer theory of color.
Outside of the classroom, I hope to employ my skills in a museum connecting communities and children to contemporary art.
