With years of experience and formal training in information technology, specifically computer science, Charles Thompson has lent his expertise in director positions at The Taft School in Connecticut and St. George’s School in Rhode Island. He began his career in technology at St. George’s School, where he advised school administration on all technology-related aspects of operations. He also managed daily activities of the technology department and its six staff members while introducing the latest technology and spearheading all technological initiatives. During his time at St. George’s, Charles Thompson developed a number of innovative applications, including weekend sign-out, which allowed students to request weekend permission online, and helpdesk management, which replaced a paper-driven process that tracked the laptop repair process.

Charles Thompson studied computer science at both Tufts University, where he earned a bachelor of science, and Brown University, where he received a master of science. He is also a commissioner of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools Commission on Technology and belongs to the National Black Data Processing Associates. In his spare time, he is a volunteer with the Big Brother/Big Sister organization, and also serves as an assistant stage manager for the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals.
