Charles Hawkins II – Passionate Educator & Collaborative Leader

With over a decade of experience in the classroom, I am a dedicated educator whose mission is to foster a love of learning while helping students achieve their fullest potential. My journey in education began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where I graduated from Tara High School and went on to earn an undergraduate degree in English from Southern University. I further honed my leadership skills by obtaining a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University in Shreveport.

Throughout my career, I’ve taught at a variety of schools, impacting students from diverse backgrounds across multiple grade levels. From my early days as an interventionist at ReNEW Schaumburg to becoming a founding first-grade teacher at Laureate Academy Charter School, my focus has always been on providing targeted support and fostering academic success. My experience spans teaching elementary grades, including fourth-grade ELA & Social Studies at Tomball ISD, where I was named Teacher of the Year in 2022-2023. I have also had the honor of being selected for Tomball ISD’s highly selective Administrative Leadership Cohort to further develop my leadership skills.

I am deeply committed to collaboration and serving the team to ensure that we meet our campus goals and provide the best possible education for every child. Currently, as the 6th Grade ELA Team Lead at Houston ISD, I facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLC), provide feedback on lesson plans, and support my colleagues in enhancing student outcomes. My role in leadership extends beyond the classroom—I also co-lead extracurricular clubs, such as the Battle of the Books Club and Chess Puzzle Club, to develop students' intellectual curiosity and character.

One of my proudest achievements was being recognized as Teacher of the Year after the pandemic, and again, earning the Pinnacle Performer award for having the second-highest SPOT average in my school. I take pride in my ability to use data-driven instruction to make informed decisions, and create a nurturing environment where every student feels supported.

Above all, my passion for education is driven by my belief in the power of teamwork and collaboration. am constantly motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my students and to be part of a community that values growth, integrity, and excellence.
