Charles H. W. Mak attended the University of Sussex in United Kingdom (LL.B. (Hons)), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (LL.M. in International Economic Law), and the City University of Hong Kong (LL.M.Arb.D.R.). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland. He is also a member of the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution. He earned accreditation as a tribunal secretary at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. Recently, he was admitted as the first member of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) Tribunal Secretary Panel from Hong Kong and China.
His publications have appeared in Young Arbitration Review, International Journal of Law and Legal Jurisprudence Studies, Law and Politics Book Review, Journal of Science, Humanities and Arts, NILS Law Review, and in various websites. His current research interests include international investment law, arbitration, and international dispute resolution.
Charles is eager to serve the community. He has been appointed a member of the Panel of Film Censorship Adviser of the Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration, Consumer Liaison Group of Centre for Food Safety, and Hongkong Post Philately Liaison Group.
