My work is primarily in the area of public health--- in Washington state, as an exec with goWashington, which has always been a leader in health care. Our health care system is already one of the best in the world. We are one the top state in the nation for long-term care services and among the healthiest state for seniors. We are ranked in the top five for health care for low-income . We have also taken a lead in implementing the Obama administration's health care reforms. Among my other issues: Americans are already starting to see the benefits of health care reform. The new law requires health insurance companies — to stop rescinding coverage after a policyholder gets sick. In recent days health insurers rushed to announce that they will end wronlgy canceling patients.The insurers decided to act quickly after they were whacked by some very bad publicity. An investigative report by Reuters disclosed that the nation’s largest insurer, WellPoint, was targeting women who were recently diagnosed breast cancer for fraud investigations that could lead to cancelation of their health insurance.
