I learned to garden growing up in Morrisania, a neighborhood in the Bronx, and it was the best thing that could have happened to a kid in a city. It led to a rewarding 20-year green career and I still work in community gardens.

My other passion is basketball. Even thought I've tried lots of things, including bike racing, basketball provides the right mix of excitement and I am still active as a referee.
