Charles Sparkman is the Chief Business Officer of the Emory Vaccine Center, the largest and most comprehensive academic vaccine center in the world; and also the Administrator of the Departments of Microbiology and Immunology, Pharmacology and Biochemistry at Emory University’s School of Medicine, all nationally top ranked academic medical departments.

Charles provides leadership on strategic initiatives and oversight of the organization’s operations and finances. His primary focus areas are business and strategic planning, regulatory compliance, intellectual property commercialization, and expansion and development of research enterprises.

Additionally, Charles is responsible for business development related to the competitive funding of biomedical research and cross-specialty initiatives. His background in business management extends through the biomedical discovery pipeline and includes experience in basic science, translational and clinical operations.

Charles is also the chief business liaison for corporate and federal relationships, and for partnerships with leading US research institutions and with international interests in Europe, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and India.
