At a young age I was already coming up with new business ideas; albeit I must admit that my sales were only accomplished by the fact that few tourists could tell a nine year old that his sculptures were horrid. Quickly catching on to the fact that most often they would not carry the sculpture further than a few minutes walk before dumping it somewhere, I would keep an eye on them and later pick the sculptures; (if one could call them that), up and re-sell them.
It was then that I understood it is not only the product or service you sell but the whole experience, to them it was the experience of a smiling child convincing them to buy a sculpture; the smile they put on my face was their payment.
Years later I fully understand the feeling, when I see a child either selling lemonade, cookies, paintings or even sculptures I do the same, I trade a few dollars for that priceless smile.
The years though have thought me that a great product is just as important and there is much more to business.
I read and write voraciously on a daily basis also. This ranges from writing out business models, marketing plans and concepts to good old fashioned fantasy fiction. I read from various genres, especially enjoying books written by business leaders.
