Charly East

I'm Charly East: violinist + painter. I am also the founder, writer, and chief administrator of my Charles in Charge blog. I update the public on weekly posts detailing my escapades as a violinist , as well as my other artistic endeavors. I compose and perform with my friend Margaux , a violist and jewelry designer who also has a merch site with BigCartel.com called Love, Bambi.

I began as a classical violinist, and opened my first window by performing aside Wyclef Jean on VH1 Soulstage. I attend Berklee College of Music, where I was able to record in a 16-piece studio orchestra for Wyclef's new album coming soon. I sang + rapped on Fat Tony's RABDARGAB, arranged strings for "Black Hand Side" for Pharoahe Monch feat Stylez P and Phonte (coming soon!), and co-produced/soloed on DJ GT's "H.O.U.S.T.O.N.". I wrote and co-produced my first EP, 33rd of Neveruary, in 2009.

I'm currently at Berklee in Boston, cranking out new ideas + experimenting musically. I'm working on a second self-titled EP, Charles in Charge. I'm also working with Margaux on an intimate instrumental EP, LACED, which we expect to drop this summer. By all means, explore my links!
