One aspect of my life that others would find intriguing is my passion for my favorite food: ramen.
I discovered ramen in middle school when I decided I finally needed to start learning how to make my own food. I was tired of grabbing pop tarts and other snacks from my pantry and wanted the satisfaction of creating a nutritionally balanced meal for myself.
This of course led me to find that beautiful orange box containing 12 delicious meals for less than a foot-long sub. I fell in love immediately with the simplicity of the fine cuisine where all I had to do was put water in a pot, boil the water, put the block of ramen in it, and wait a couple of minutes. Then I added the seasoning packet and the job was finished. It was such a simple process but it produced an amazing product.
I would eat ramen for any meal of the day whenever I felt the craving for it. During school, I would be actively looking forward to lunch so I could finally eat the ramen in my thermos that I had made in the morning. I am willing to bet that I have consumed more ramen at the ripe age of 20 than 99% of adults will in their whole lifetime.
During quarantine, I was able to develop my craft of my ramen-making skills and started experimenting. My ramen now consists of soy sauce, siracha, and two eggs.
I’m proud of the time I put into developing these skills as others can experience it too. I commonly trade splitting Uber costs with friends in exchange for making them ramen as my skills became so respected.
I hope you found my love for ramen to be an interesting aspect to learn about.
