Charles L. Chatmon is an author, poet, literary advocate, and community educator with more than two decades of experience supporting emerging writers across Los Angeles. He currently serves as Director of the AC Bilbrew Writers Workshop, where he leads programs focused on craft development, cultural memory, and creative expression.
His career includes leadership roles with Authors N Focus, the African American Museum & Library at Oakland (AAMLO), and the African Marketplace. As a journalist and literary interviewer, he has contributed to publications such as California Crusader News, L.A. Wave, and Consciousness Magazine, documenting stories that highlight community voices and artistic legacy.

A stroke survivor, Charles brings a renewed sense of clarity and purpose to his work, integrating themes of resilience, transformation, and identity into his writing and mentorship. He continues to publish essays, poetry, and reflections that explore the intersections of personal growth, community storytelling, and lived experience.
