Charles Schmid Encinitas
Encinitas, CA
Corporate executive Charles Schmid of Encinitas, California, balances his professional duties with charitable interests and recreational activities. While attending the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), he carried a full course load, played collegiate rugby, and held down a position at Chelsea Investment Corporation, which he joined in 1986. The recipient of a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from UCSD, with minors in communications and science, Charles Schmid of Encinitas also earned his general contractor’s license. In his history with Chelsea Investment Corporation, he has played an integral role in its expansion from a small-time apartment- and office-building contractor to a major Southern California developer with more than 6,300 affordable housing units to its credit. At the same time, he has found a niche as a construction supervisor for multifamily projects. When he is not overseeing the construction of hundreds of affordable housing units throughout Southern California and Arizona, Charles Schmid enjoys donating his time and resources to nonprofit organizations. As a devoted Encinitas community member, he gives to the local animal shelter, the Helen Woodward Animal Center. He also participates in regular training exercises as part of the City of Encinitas Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), which was organized to better prepare local citizens for disaster response and emergency medical situations. During his limited free time, Charles Schmid enjoys sport fishing, scuba diving, or sailing his boat on the Pacific Ocean. An avid traveler and cook, he enjoys sampling the exotic dishes of the many places he visits.
