Charles Schoch

Charles Schoch has diverse experience in purchasing, operations, and financial systems management with biotechnology firms in the Cambridge, Massachusetts, area. Engaged in consultative and employee capacities over the past five years, he has worked closely with senior-level managers, biotech researchers, investors, and strategic partners. Mr. Schoch earned his Bachelor of Science in Business and Finance at Elon University in 2006, graduating cum laude. Moving to Cambridge the same year, Charles Schoch accepted a position as Manager of Labs, Facilities, and Purchasing with Codon Devices, Inc. The company focused on development and delivery of synthetic biology services and products with an array of commercial applications. Codon Devices engineered agricultural products, gene libraries, vaccines, and innovative medicines. Charles Schoch held responsibilities over inventory management, domestic and international shipping, and customer service. As part of his duties, he researched inventory tracking products and processes, such as radio-frequency identification (RFID), designed to ensure high efficiency levels. Charles Schoch also assisted in the design and implementation of accounting systems that managed accounts payable and receivable as well as shipment tracking. Working directly with the firm’s Senior Vice President of Technical Operations, he helped prepare technical papers and presentation materials for meetings with investors and potential strategic partners.

Charles Schoch most recently served as Financial & Operational Consultant with Biops LLC, a company he founded in 2008. In this capacity, he supported startup biotech firms in meeting their operational, financial, and purchasing system requirements. Mr. Schoch’s client firms, including Eleven Biotherapeutics, Constellation Pharmaceuticals, Foundation Medicine, and BlueBird Bio, specialized in novel screening methods, innovative biotech products, and early-stage drug discovery. Charles Schoch set up and maintained advanced financial accounting systems, designing procurement systems that automated purchasing functions. He negotiated directly with suppliers, achieving substantial discounts for the companies he represented. In numerous cases, Charles Schoch leveraged the collective buying power of client firms to achieve strategic cost reductions.
