Charley ‘CB’ Baldwin is a 3rd generation New Smyrna Beach local with 17 years of real estate agents New Smyrna experience and a huge asset to the Royalty Realty team. Charley grew up at 1 block from the beach and has been an integral part of the surfing reputation New Smyrna Beach has come to be famous for. CB became the 1971 East Coast surfing champion and later 2 US surfing championships along with 3 professional wins.
Charley started his business career in NSB with a beach concession in 1976 located at the NSB inlet, Inlet Charley’s, a popular surfing destination. The concession was host to many professional surfing competitions including the ‘Aloe Up’ an ASP World Tour event. Charley later opened up Inlet Charley’s Surf Shop on Flagler Ave which would become a 30 year staple that is now Rip Curl Surf Shop. He also opened CB surfboard manufacturing company in Edgewater becoming one of the largest surfboard manufacturers on the east coast building more than 20,000 surfboards distributed throughout the world.
His family history of local business in the area should also be mentioned. His parents, Patty and Boostie, owned and operated New Smyrna Chrysler Plymouth that was established in 1948 in downtown NSB and was eventually sold in 1988. Charley’s grand parents helped establish the town of Oak Hill and owned and operated Baldwin’s Grocery and Hardware in Oak Hill in the 1930’s.
Charley has 2 daughters, Lindsey (also an agent for Royalty Realty) and Marcie, and one grand baby Jordie Ann. His daughters became established surfers with both winning 2 East Coast Championships and 2 US Championships with Lindsey going on to enjoy 3 years on the ASP Pro Tour traveling the world. He is also very proud of the both graduating from University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Charley is proud to call himself a life time local and being a part of this amazing community. He also enjoys being one of the founding fathers of the New Smyrna Beach Surfari Club which puts on surfing events and has given numerous yearly scholarships to high school students since 1979. He is also 30 year member of the Anglers Yacht Club and a 12 year member of the Smyrna Yacht Club, both have over 100 years of history with the Smyrna Yacht Clubs having one of the finest restaurants and Tiki Bars in the area.
