Charlie Greene
Operations Manager in the United States
I love operations because it keeps me closest to the product and the customer. That's the reason why I chose to begin my career at Textron and the reason why I am excited to come to work every day. Whether I am building helicopters, planes, or unmanned aircraft, I am always focused on getting the customer the coolest, highest-quality product on time, every time.
My approach to leadership and sustained change has always centered around three things - bright people, error-proof processes, and insightful performance metrics. I want everyone to be able to leave the office each day knowing if they "won" or "lost", and to have the tools and passion to come back again and do it better.
Application of this approach has led to operational excellence in many ways. A few highlights Include:
- My planning team boosting global fleet mission readiness rates by 8%, keeping soldiers out of harm's way through consistent situational awareness
- My inspection team maintaining a 98.5% first pass yield in 2016, leading to increased confidence from our key QA customer and stakeholder - DCMA
- My six-month international assignment in Mexico providing drastic efficiency and safety improvements that have been scaled globally across the business. (I also somehow gained impressive bachata dance skills on that assignment in spite of my two left feet!)
My goal is to transition from a manufacturing-based operations role to a services or technology-centered organization so that I can leverage my education in Information Systems & Analytics as well as continue to nurture my Operations acumen. Regardless of the industry, I hope to continually share my excitement for incredible products with customers around the world.
