Director in Indonesia
Hi, I’m Charlie Hartono, a passionate Social Impact Leader with over 15 years of expertise in corporate partnerships, business development, and digital transformation across both profit and non-profit sectors. I’m currently the Country Director for AVPN, where I lead efforts to elevate AVPN’s profile and influence in Indonesia.
In this role, I spearhead strategic media engagement and industry event initiatives while fostering lasting relationships with current and prospective partners. I also collaborate closely with stakeholders across the social investment spectrum — including foundations, family offices, financial services, private equity, corporations, intermediaries, government, and universities — to advance AVPN's mission of mobilizing capital towards impactful solutions.
My journey began at UNICEF in 2010, where I worked in Private Fundraising Partnerships. From launching initiatives like U-Report and the Internet of Good Things in Malawi to leading digital transformation at World Vision Indonesia, I’ve consistently driven positive change in dynamic environments. Recently, I supported UNICEF’s Global Innovation Center and led youth engagement strategies for over 90 countries from UNICEF HQ.
Before focusing on impact, I held business development roles at multinational companies like Mastercard, IBM, Amway, and Viamo.
Beyond my professional work, I collaborate with the Ministry of Education to bridge private sector engagement with Indonesia’s Kampus Merdeka Program, lead efforts at NZID.org to strengthen New Zealand-Indonesia relations, and contribute to the Coalition of Digital Prosperity Asia, advocating for inclusive digital policies across APAC.
I hold a Master’s in International Business from the University of Auckland and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Trisakti School of Management.
