Charlie Kaijo

Charlie Kaijo is a videographer and photojournalist. He has freelanced for the Daily Sundial and was recently named assistant photo editor. He is a graduate from the New York Times Student Journalism Institute.

In his two years of taking photographs, Kaijo has covered numerous news events throughout the cities of Los Angles and Tucson, Ariz., including the one year anniversary of when Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and many others were shot outside of a local Safeway Supermarket.

In the fall of 2011, Kaijo covered the Occupy Los Angeles
movement, its development into a sprawling encampment at the lawn of City Hall, and its subsequent eviction in late November.

When he is not covering news events, Kaijo enjoys shooting
entertainment in Hollywood and Venice Beach as well as profiles of artists and entertainers. He has also documented first and second generation Koreans in the Koreatown enclave in Downtown, Los Angeles.

Kaijo is approaching his final semester as a graduate student at California State University, Northridge where he is studying Mass Communication and Journalism. He is in the process of producing a multimedia photo series on Koreatown and its relationship to the topic of Globalization.
