Charlie O'Hearn
Small Business Owner in Los Angeles, California
Charlie O'Hearn is an IT professional holding multiple degrees and industry certifications including a BS in Computer Science from San Jose State University and an MCSE.
Prior to attending University Charlie served in the US Navy aboard the USS Wabash as a Boatswain’s Mate where he enjoyed the glamorous duties of scraping rust, painting things grey and refueling other ships in the Northern Pacific…usually in winter.
His 15 years of computer experience ranges from small organizations as a one-man IT department to leading large teams of skilled professionals in building and maintaining environments that serve thousands of concurrent end users. Today he owns a consulting company, Plexus IT providing computer services to small to medium-sized business.
In the late 1990s Charlie enjoyed the IT bubble to grow his career and Omnikron Systems. In two years he went from a junior systems administrator caring for 30 users to IT Manager overseeing a team of IT professionals caring for a now much larger Omnikron that had expanded operations to Chicago and India. From there Charlie went to Move.com for “big shop” experience and enjoyed working with and learning from genuine IT gurus. In 2009 Charlie took Plexus IT full-time and enjoys working for himself and the flexibility it gives him when it comes to spending time with his family.
Charlie was an avid triathlete competing successfully in the Clydesdale division internationally. That was 20 pounds and 2 kids ago. He once kayaked with a group of colleagues 11 miles from Oxnard to Anacapa Island. Despite that “adventure” he still loves the water and can often be found with his family wake boarding on the Colorado River, or sailing among the Channel Islands. Charlie now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Jo, a CPA, and his children, ages 8 and 4.
