Charlie Young

For most of the past decade, Charlie Rae Young has attended hundreds of births. She has done so in her capacity as a midwife, as well as in her position as the proprietor of Barefoot Birth. That company is a manifestation of her desire to fill the gap that exists in the area of natural childbirth services, in which families who would prefer that over a traditional hospital birthing experience have a difficult time finding someone to help with that.

Charlie Young likes to believe she is providing a service for those who often feel marginalized due to the various social stigma that is often experienced by individuals who reject conventional medical care. It seems that Charlie Rae Young has always felt naturally drawn to the birthing experience. She believes it was a calling that led her to become a doula, or midwife. That came after she witnessed far too numerous cases in which the birth experience was, to her, far too over-medicalized. That is what led Charlie Young to co-found Barefoot Birth in 2009. That company provides expectant families with natural childbirth services that are of the highest quality, and they provide them throughout the entire process.

Charlie Rae Young also has a reputation as a tireless advocate for better and more natural care for expectant families because she believes that improves the quality of life in a community. That is borne out by the joy she feels when she sees families whose births she attended years later. There is something satisfying and exciting about seeing children she helped bring into this world going to school years later. She also takes pride in the fact that many of the doulas trained by Barefoot Birth are spreading the word about natural birth message through midwifery.
