I work for the University of Edinburgh as a Strategic Research Executive. What does that mean? It means I support our staff to make the most out of opportunities in research. Sometimes it can be looking at how governmental policies or strategies will effect us, or it's supporting big initiatives across the organisation to get them off the ground.

I have expertise in project management, higher education, UK research innovation and development, local economic development strategy, university strategy, research impact, R&D working cultures.

I have PhD in chemistry, specifically using electrochemistry to sense changes in nuclear fuel processes. Being able to sense changes in the system allowed for greater understanding of the reactions and improved safety measures.

I have experience working with the commercialisation arm of the University to improve engagement between researchers and industry, allowing for opportunities through new sources of funding and improving the impact that academic research can have on society. and I've worked in the chemical industry.
