Silicon Valley

Finding a smile in the simple elegance of a tulip can sometimes do more for your soul than completing that big task at the office.

Working as an engineer in Silicon Valley can lead to living life measured by a series of deadlines for the next big release - finding the balance to work/home life can be a struggle at best.

Last year, I was diagnosed with early stage adenocarcinoma. I am happy to say I made it through both surgery and chemotherapy and enjoying life in remission as a cancer survivor.

However difficult, my journey was not without rewards. I found myself forced to slow down and reflect on a world outside the office. Nowadays, I find myself treating each moment like a valued treasure, finding beauty in things I might have previously taken for granted. The warmth of a purring cat nestled next to me when I wake, the sweet clear song of the bird greeting the day, maybe the fragrance of eucalyptus floating on the breeze through my bedroom window.

I look forward to the beautiful moments in every day. I hope you take the time to enjoy your gifts too.
