Charlottesville City which has an elevation of 594 feet, has a total landmass of 26.55 km². It was first inhabited by the Native Americans before the arrival of the Europeans. It was founded in 1762 when an Act of the Assembly of Albemarle County supported the establishment of the city. The first trustee was given to Thomas Walker.

Charlottesville is located along Three Notched Road, which was a trade route. The city’s name was gotten from Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, in the United Kingdom. Between 1779 to 1781, at the time of the American Revolutionary War, the city was chosen to imprison the Convention Army, at the Albemarle Barracks by the congress. Over the years, the city has enjoyed a lot of development, and has become a big business hub in the state of Virginia.
