Chartt Miller

In 2000, at the age of 5, my family emigrated from South Africa to Sydney, Australia. The first race I ever competed in was the Castle Hill Primary School cross country carnival in Year 3, at the age of 9. I tied for first place and later went on to win the Zone Event. The “running bug” had bitten! Over the next 4 years I competed in a number of school athletics events, 5km road races and cross country events. During this time I was also a member of Cherrybrook Little Athletics Club. I was an active sportsman playing a number of sports which included soccer, baseball and basketball for the local Castle Hill teams. At the end of 2008 my family moved across to Perth and it was at this time that I made the decision to focus on my running. This decision paid off with me improving rapidly and achieving a number of good results in the first year. I knew I needed a good coach to progress to the next level and I was fortunate enough to be accepted into Paul Heywood’s group (“The Heywood Stable”) in January 2010
