Kristi Howell

San Francisco

My name is Kristi Howell. You could say my life as an endurance athlete started a few years back when I did my first sprint triathlon at Wildflower in 2009. After that race I was totally hooked. Still couldn’t swim and struggled for a couple years to follow but thanks to youtube, some good friends and a lot of practice I learned (and am still learning) how to swim. I followed up my first triathlon with 2 more sprint triathlons that season. In 2010, I completed both my first Olympic distance and half Ironman distance races. In 2012, I competed in my first marathon, my first century and my first long distance triathlon at Wildflower. It was then I decided I wanted to do Ironman Cozumel and I wanted to do it by age 30.

Training for Ironman was grueling and one of the hardest things I have ever done. But crossing that finish line was by far the single most gratifying moment of my life. While I may have accomplished my goal of becoming an Ironman by 30, the journey is far from over…
