Chasity Strawder
Public Speaker in Toledo, Ohio
My name is Chasity Strawder. I grew up in Southeast Arkansas, but I've been a resident of the Midwest for 17 years. I am married to my wonderful husband, Terrence, and I'm a mother to my boys, Donovan (age 12) and Joshua (age 5).
My career calling is education. I was previously a teacher in the Ann Arbor School District in Ann Arbor, Michigan for 7 years. I resigned from that position in 2007. I've used my time away from the educational environment to care for my family, and to evaluate my life personally and professionally. I returned to school in 2012, and I graduated in 2014 with my master's degree in educational leadership. I'm currently seeking a position as a middle school or high school principal.
In early 2010, I became pregnant with my second child. During my pregnancy, I was dying from a devastating disease called gastroparesis. My husband and I also became homeless. I wrote about that painful journey, and my amazing recovery in my personal memoir called "Broken For The Promise." My book is available on Amazon, Barnes/Noble, and Books A Million.
Recently, I overcame Stage 4 Endometriosis. My life has been filled with a lot of pain. However, I've used those dark moments to discover the purpose for my existence. I live to educate, uplift, and inspire people to dig for the treasure in the most difficult of circumstances. There is truly purpose in pain.
