My name is Chelsea Merta, and I am a government affairs, public policy, and communications professional. In my previous role, I wrote laws and developed policies for the City of St. Louis, Missouri. I am a recovering trial attorney who practiced for ten years, focusing primarily on civil rights, non-profit law, and election support. I have more than 20 years of experience in grassroots organizing.

I attended Indiana University for my undergraduate degree and completed my law degree at Saint Louis University School of Law. I am a graduate of the Strategic Code Enforcement Management Academy (SCEMA) through the University of Memphis School of Law. I am a 2014 New Leaders Council Fellow and a member of the 2024 Neighborhood Leadership Academy (NLA) cohort through the University of Missouri - St. Louis.

I have trained with Camp Wellstone, Groundswell Fund, National Institute of Reproductive Health, EMILY's List, the Sue Shear Institute at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, among others. I have used my training as a community organizer, attorney, and civil servant to advocate for the needs of low-income and underserved communities.
