Chelsea is a diverse trumpet player in theBoulder/Denver area, currently pursuing a DMA at the University of Colorado Boulder and also holds degrees from Baylor University (BM '11) and Southern Methodist University (MM '13, PD '15).

With extensive experience in trumpet solo repertoire, orchestra and wind ensemble literature, chamber music, new music, and everything in-between, Chelsea has much to offer as both a performer and a teacher. She has performed across the United States, as well as brief tours of Belgium, southern France, and China.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Chelsea was an active freelancer in Dallas area, having the opportunity to perform with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas POPS, and the Dallas Wind Symphony, and has performed with pop artists Ben Folds and Idina Menzel.

As a soloist, Chelsea has been successful competing at a national level. She has been selected as a finalist at the National Trumpet Competition twice, placing 2nd in 2015.

Chelsea's chamber experience is extensive, having played in contemporary and traditional ensembles for over 10 years. As a graduate student at SMU, her brass quintet shared the stage with the Dallas Symphony Brass Quintet and with SMU's new music ensemble, SYZYGY, recorded a album of student composers' works. Currently, Chelsea is a member of Brazen Brass 5 (www.brazenbrass5.com) and the University of Colorado Boulder Graduate Brass Quintet. With Brazen, Chelsea competed at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in the May 2015 and held a two-week residency at the Shanghai American School in December 2015.

Chelsea has had the opportunity to play for some of the most prominent trumpet players today, including Phil Smith, Thomas Stevens, Barbara Butler, Ryan Anthony, Jens Lindemann, Ronald Romm, William Pfund, Ray Mase, Kevin Cobb, Manny Laureano, Ray Sasaki, Allan Dean, Allen Vizzutti, and Vincent DiMartino. Chelsea trumpet ensemble arrangement of Bela Bartok's String Quartet No. 2 was performed by the SMU Trumpet Ensemble as an opening piece for Cancer Blow's 2015 Night of the Principals, in addition to placing 2nd at NTC.

Chelsea's primary teachers include Tom Booth, Wiff Rudd, Ryan Anthony, Terry Sawchuk, Justin Bartels, and Steve Fitts.
