Chelsey Stimson
Nevada
Military Widow, U.S. Navy Veteran, and Barrel Racer. Teammate to Super Gigi!
Originally from Eastern Montana, Chelsey has loved horses all her life. Upon graduating high school in 2002, Chelsey joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years. While attending boot camp she met the man she would marry five years later. After three years of marriage in 2010, her husband, a Navy SEAL, was killed in an accident, leaving her a widow, also known as a Gold Star Wife.
In 2012, though struggling with grief and to rebuild her life, she graduated from Regent University with her degree in Psychology. Shortly after she moved to Nevada and began her Chapter 2. There she revisited her love of horses that has led her on a new journey.
She set out to do something she dreamed of growing up in Montana before joining the Navy, to become a competitive barrel racer. It has been over a year since she found her horse, Gigi, and started riding again. There have been challenges along the way but also great achievements!
More than anything, she wants to share her story to encourage others to keep going through their challenges and achieve their dreams.
She has been writing to share her experience at http://chelseystimson.wordpress.com/ and working on a book about her experience.
