Chelston D. F. Lee
Chelston Leeleads Paramount Communications, a premier strategic political communications company based in New York, USA. He has a Masters Degree from the University of North London and serves as a Strategic Public Relations Consultant to the Caribbean Facility at the World Bank in Washington DC, and as a Communications Adviser to the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. His primary focus continues to be providing expert political and communications advice to various clients across the Caribbean and West Africa. He specializes in campaign management, speech writing, research, targeted freelance writing, strategic messaging, crisis and image management, and reputation repair.
As a former Political Communications Consultant to the President of Liberia - West Africa, and Political Adviser to the Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Mr. Lee balances the healthy tension between governments and the media within a carefully honed information and technology ethos. He teaches political leaders how to navigate unique but severe communications challenges and assists them with traditional and social media intelligence and community mobilization strategies.
Internationally, Chelston combines his multifaceted practical experiences to lecture in the US, Canada, and UK, on political campaigns, managing public opinion, designing image repair and delivering effective media strategies. He has worked at the BBC in London and during that time he was appointed Caribbean Political Director for Strategic Communications Laboratories (SCL), a London-based conglomerate. Mr Lee later served as PR Adviser to a team of UK Scientists who were monitoring the ongoing volcanic eruption at the Montserrat Volcano Observatory. Regionally, Chelston has also worked with several pollsters across the Caribbean and is especially noted for converting polling data to effectively influence media personnel and get widespread press coverage. He has also managed several radio and television newsrooms throughout the Caribbean.
Mr. Lee is a member of several corporate and non-profit boards in the Caribbean, and a member of the US National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), the Public Relations Society of New York (PRSNY) and the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM). He is also an executive member of the Caribbean Council for Economic Development (CCFED), and a member of the Board of Directors of Invest Caribbean Now (ICN) in the USA.
