Chengzao Sun

Hi, I’m Chengzao Sun, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Pinnacle Medicines in Warrington, Pennsylvania.

I work in peptide drug discovery and macrocyclic therapeutics, focusing on turning early scientific ideas into medicines that can address complex biological targets. My career spans more than 20 years across biotech and pharmaceutical research, including leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson, Merck, and Amylin.

My background is in organic chemistry, and I earned my Ph.D. from Brown University. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on peptide research programs from early molecular design through clinical development, and I’m an inventor on multiple patents in peptide therapeutics.

I’m also active in the scientific community and serve on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Boulder Peptide Society.

I’m interested in the intersection of chemistry, biology, and drug development, and how scientific collaboration can accelerate the creation of new medicines.
