When I first stepped into United States, I found it was quite difficult for me to fit into United States. The brand-new environment and different culture all became huge challenges for me. It was the first time I had left my country, my hometown and my family. The first month in the United States is a painful memory. During that period of time, I could not speak fluent English; teachers and classmates could not understand what I was talking about, and could not offer me any help. My father told me studying abroad will not only challenge me; also it could also help me to achieve a better future. But, I didn't know I would have to overcome such difficult conditions.

When I found myself helpless, I read a biography about Steve Jobs.

After reading his story, I suddenly found that life was much easier. Unlike me, Jobs did not finish school, because he did not want to waste his parents' money. I have a wonderful opportunity to achieve my dream, so why would I not cherish it? After the realizing, I organized my mind, and I picked up my confidence. I smiled to every American whom I was afraid to talk before. I started to listen to American pop songs, read English novels, and did more practice questions. Within a year I was able to enroll in AP and IB classes with American students.

The first year in America ended successfully with my effort and hard-work. Steve Jobs was a role model for me. His determination and insistent character encouraged me, when I almost gave up on myself. He is the one who taught me there is always sunshine after a storm.
