I am a marine biologist, award-winning children's book author, 17+ year ocean conservation blogger and science translator (i.e. science communicator).

I've held a three-day-old sea otter pup in the palm of my hand, cuddled with a 1-week-old penguin chick and received a painting from a giant Pacific octopus! I've worked at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and currently work at the Steinhart Aquarium at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.

My 8 book early reader chapter book series is titled, “Lily Lu to the Rescue” and follows a 7-year-old Chinese American girl who travels the world with her marine biologist mother and they save ocean animals. They are written for K-2 or 5-8 year old readers, or anyone who loves ocean animals!

I participated in the women's STEMM leadership program Homeward Bound as part of their 10th cohort. It included a 2 week trip to Tanzania, Africa and time observing animals in the Serengeti.

Please check out my blog and author website https://oceanofhope.net and let me know how you are protecting our precious oceans!
