Hi everyone. My name is Cheryl Achenbach. I have been a primary teacher for 23 years with the WCDSB.

This year is a switch as I am dipping my toe in the junior pool 3/4 split!

My favourite thing in teaching is that "aha" moment when a little one starts to believe that they are a reader. I chase that feeling every day in my classroom.

Eight years ago I chose to teach at one of our Board's highest-needs schools. It has been hands down the most rewarding career move I have made. It has been hard, but I am a much stronger teacher and parent because of that move.

I LOVE studying leadership. In education, in business, in non-profits, people in small communities...you name it. It is a passion of mine. I love learning about what motivates strong leaders, their decision-making, their philosophies etc.

I am also a wife, mom of two, as well as a head-over-heels dog mom. I love the outdoors, spending time with the people I love in our little cabin on Georgian Bay, travelling, and am totally addicted to veggie gardening.

I took Reading Part 1 over the summer and loved it so I am excited to take the next step with Reading Part 2.
