I am a passionate music educator based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Eons ago, some years after graduating from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, I started a music business in Kuala Lumpur, a licensee of Yamaha Music Malaysia. Over the years, I managed a team of passionate educators that prepared hundreds of students for public performances as well as music examinations. In addition, I spoke at seminars and conferences, and provided training to upskill musicians in bands.

Despite decades in music education, I hope to never stop learning. I am thrilled when I discover a more effective way of teaching, no matter how familiar the topic.

Looking ahead, I hope to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and solutions to some of the more common issues facing fellow music educators around the world in their work with students of the new millennium.

My own experience has been enriched by exposure to a range of approaches encompassing the best of British, American and Japanese influences. Arising from this is the development of No Sweat Music Matters, a collection of material which aims to make the teaching and learning of music basics easier for both teachers and students all over. Out in the next season is a series of graded music theory books based on the syllabus by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, the world’s leading provider of music exams, with over 650,000 candidates in more than 90 countries.

Now, the less serious stuff. When not busy pretending to compose inspiring songs on the piano, I can be found diligently lazing in a bubble bath, or trying to solve enigmas in the kitchen ... such as How-to-Make-Asian-Style-Clay-Pot-Chicken-Rice-Taste-Like-it-Was-Cooked-in-a-Clay-Pot - when I actually don’t have a clay pot ...

In my secret life, I have enjoyed the success of a series of published works - a trilogy of joke books, a fun collaborative project worked on with my dad while I was trying to escape the pressures of real life. Like Performing Miracles in the Kitchen ... without a Clay Pot.

My personal favorite things? These span a colorful spectrum - from cute, faithful pooches ... to snooty cats; getting thrilled with modern devices ... to cherishing old-fashioned Christmas traditions; enjoying lovely, sunny days ... to savoring cold weather that gives me a chance to dress in cozy winter attire here in beautiful New Zealand!
