I have always been confused when people would ask me what I want to be when I grow up. My answer always varied and wasn't definitive. the answer would vary from things like Rockstar to a school teacher. Never was I 100% confident in my answer, but then something happened to me that genuinely shaped my perspective. When I was fifteen, my Mother told me that she was pregnant. I was so excited to have a new brother or sister. My mom was excited for her first doctor's appointment and I couldn't help but accompany her. While there there they told us devastating news my mom had a miscarriage. Heartbreak and despair filled our minds, my mom couldn't stop blaming herself. She wouldn't listen to me when I told her it wasn't her fault. The only person that persuaded her to change her mindset and listen to reason was the ultrasound technician. She explained to her that it wasn't her fault, the baby was just not strong enough and these situations happen. My mom looked at her like she could tell no lie, her faith in the technicians answer and expertise was absolute. That look of unwavering trust, the amount of healing and support she gave my mom made me want to aspire to be just like her. To help new mothers with the fear and happiness of motherhood. To be apart of that sacred and special part of an individual's life is a blessing and the highest honor that someone could bestow It puts the information of a child in your hands. I believe that I have numerous personality characteristics that is essential to becoming a ultrasound technician such as,being friendly, respectful and dedicated. These qualities are highly apparent in this profession and can help myself excel, grow and achieve my dream.
