Nigerian-American 110m Hurdles Athlete

Chido Ekwu is a Nigerian-American professional track and field athlete specializing in the men’s 110 meter high hurdles. Born in Dallas, Texas, Ekwu began his athletic running career at the age of 12 before transitioning into hurdles competition during junior high school.

He competed collegiately at McMurry University, where he helped lead the program to two NCAA national team championships and earned multiple American Southwest Conference honors. In 2018, he was inducted into the McMurry University Track & Field Hall of Honor.

Ekwu has competed internationally in Nigerian national championship and Olympic qualifying competitions, including the 2016 Nigerian Olympic Trials in Sapele, Delta State, and the 2024 Nigerian National Championships held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Outside of athletics, he is actively involved in community outreach and charity initiatives, including appearances at events such as the Celebrity Softball Classic supporting youth programs, veterans, and charitable organizations.
