Children's Dental Group

Founded by University of California, Los Angeles, Professor and Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Scott Jacks, Children's Dental Group has served the children of Southern California since 1980. Created to serve communities with limited access to pediatric dental services, the first office opened in South Gate in Los Angeles County. The dental practice grew to provide services to residents in eight other locations. In addition to its initial site in South Gate where an orthodontics center also opened, Children’s Dental Group maintains office locations in Norwalk, San Jose, Anaheim, Eagle Rock, Carson, Sunnyvale, and Santa Ana.

Providing dental health education, the staff at Children's Dental Group distributed more than 100,000 toothbrushes last year to children in the communities it serves. Accompanying the toothbrushes was education on proper brushing and flossing. The dental professionals work through schools, youth groups, churches, and even municipalities to reach underserved children. They frequently provide free dental care to ensure no child leaves without receiving proper care for a painful problem. The practice also accepts most forms of government reimbursement including Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program, and its dental plan, Denti-Cal.

Educating parents about pediatric dental care remains a primary concern of Children's Dental Group. Dr. Jacks and the pediatric professionals in the group have garnered numerous awards for their efforts to address the dental health needs of children without homes at no cost to the families. The diverse staff includes individuals who speak Spanish, English, and Vietnamese. Many of them have received training to work with children with special needs.

Children's Dental Group maintains membership in several professional organizations. Memberships include the California Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Dental Association.
