Vlogging and blogging was a career that Chime never dreamed of having but always wanted. She was born and raised in West Point, MS and was often praised for her creativity but she never had a passion for a specific career. Although, at this time Chime did have a love for modeling and was encouraged to do so by her family and peers.

Upon graduation, she decided to attend Rust College, a historically Black institution but she was confused about what her major should be. Chime is an expressive individual and wanted a career that would allow her to be creative, open and have an impact. The closest major at the college was Mass Communications so she immersed herself in her studies as well as campus events like the The African American Student Leadership Conference. The sessions opened her eyes to the untold history of Black people and the pressure Black women face to fit into the European standard of beauty. She became conscious. She realized she wanted to embrace what she had been taught to hate and empower other women as well.

Chime gained the most notoriety when she decided to go natural (cutting off her straight relaxed hair revealing afro textured hair) and shared her journey and the knowledge she acquired via www.fotki.com and her YouTube Channel. Many of her followers fondly refer to her as HairCrush, her YouTube username. Her following has grown to almost 250,000 subscribers. She prides herself in helping women realize their kinky hair is beautiful and declare they must change their thinking; not the texture of their hair.

She is a self-described innovative, good-hearted, fly hippie and seeker of light. Her desire is to inspire other women to discover their inner light (star) as well. Many not only follow her for her natural hair tips and advice but also for her humorous, down to earth personality, style, modeling career, yoga journey and tips for healthy eating and living. Chime's blog is a reflection of her love of art, fashion, food, yoga, natural hair and spirituality. Many women have said they follow Chime for a source of inspiration. She believes in inspiring as she is inspired. Her goal is to spread Peace, Luv & Light - she believes this is all humans and the world needs to be healed.
