Civil Engineer in Michigan

Creative. City of Detroit Enthusiast. Urban Youth Advocate. Community Servant. Foodie. DIYer. Entrepreneurial. Wine Lover. Yoga Mom. Internet Radio Show Host. Engineer by Education and Training. I am currently employed with the City of Detroit in the City Engineering Division.

Been a Michigander all my life and born and raised in Detroit. I am a graduate of Cass Tech, The University of Detroit Mercy, and Wayne State University.

My professional background is in civil engineering, with a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from The University of Detroit Mercy, and a MS degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Construction Management from Wayne State University. I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty or to do heavy lifting (well not too heavy!) One of the reasons I chose civil engineering, is because you get to get your hands dirty playing in soils and concrete! It is a very hands on field in my opinion, and I am a hands on person!

Beyond engineering, I love to serve the community and am passionate about serving single mothers and low-income families, and assisting in the advancement of urban youth. I've mentored at various non-profit organizations and small groups, and have been an assistant teacher with DAPCEP in the past.

I also am a small business owner and love reading INC., Harvard Business Review, Crain's Business, and Fast Company; I enjoy helping others reach their business goals and encourage others to think outside the box when it comes to developing their business.

When I am not working or volunteering, you can find me at my daughter's school being a "school" mom, or crocheting in a rocking chair catching a movie on Netflix :)
