Chi Woo Chung

CW Chung received his early musical training from Raymond Young and Nancy Loo, during his study at the University of Hong Kong where he received a Bachelor degree in Engineering. After graduation, he was accepted with scholarships into the Manhattan School of Music in New York, USA, where he worked with Zenon Fishbein, a long time faculty of the conservatory and the founder of the Prague Music Performance Festival, later earning his Bachelor and Master degree in Piano Performance. He had studied harpsichord with Kenneth Cooper, composition with J. Mark Stambaugh, chamber music with Jon Klibonoffand Linda Chesis and piano pedagogy with Marjean Olson. He has participated in master classes with such renowned pianist as Arie Vardi,Volker Banfield, Arthur Greene, Robert Roux, Boaz Sharon and Martin Ballý. Some of his recent performances include recitals at the Greenfield Hall, Steinway Piano Hall, World Financial Center, Theresian hall of Brevnov Monastery and the Bethlehem Chapel. He has appeared as the harpsichordist on stage with the Baroque Aria Ensemble for their performance in New York. Recent chamber performance includes rarely performed works such as Vox Balaenae by George Crumb and Prokofiev's Cinderella transcribed by Mikhail Pletnev .

Serious about piano pedagogy, Chi Woo has been teaching for more than 12 years, with a diverse experience in music education, piano instruction, accompaniment, musicianship, and choral directorship from his work in both Hong Kong and New York City. His students have achieved distinctions from various competitions such as the Long Island music competition, Young Pianist Competitoin of New Jersey, and examinations under the curriculum of New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) , the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), and diploma of Trinity College London. Recently returned to Hong Kong, Chi Woo is accepting students of all level who are passionate in music and dedicated to reaching their potential though hard work and determination.
