Growing up, especially during high school when I had a car, I spent my time split between two places: my mom’s house in East Atlanta and my grandparents’ house in rural southern Georgia. I think that this situation, along with the unique blend of influences that comes with it, is one of the most important factors in who I am and what my interests are. I feel at home in both places, and I think both places are equally interesting if you know where to look. Spending a lot of time out in the country, I grew to love hunting, fishing, camping, and pretty much anything that allowed me to be outside. I also learned how to appreciate doing absolutely nothing at all. In Atlanta, my friends and I spent a lot of time exploring and photographing the city. The music scene in Atlanta played a very big part in my childhood. I remember being 12 and 13 and taking the train to the Masquerade with my friends to see $15 shows on the weekends. As I got older, I started to meet people my own age who were making music, and this introduced me to the world of house shows and warehouse venues and DIY everything. I was influenced by a very diverse group of people and settings growing up, and I am glad I got the opportunity to try so many different things before I even came to college.
