Stephanie Chochian

I’m Stephanie Chochian, a third-year Creative Industries student at Ryerson University, specializing in Media Business and Professional Communication. My interest for this program came from the fact that it combines aspects from both a business and creative perspective, which is uncommon in other programs. This certainly prepares students to a variety of different kinds of work, as our compulsory courses range from Marketing, to Small Business Start Up, to Photoshop. Being exposed to a wide mixture of material, and having learnt how they relate to one another, really demonstrates a real life setting in a business environment.

I would describe myself as a creative, energy-driven, passionate individual who has an interest in Marketing, Advertising, Social Media Management and Event Planning. I enjoy working in environments that allow you to apply a creative perspective in a business setting. I become motivated within to produce and complete my best possible work, as it provides me with self-fulfilment, and encouragement to enhance and improve my capabilities. I have experience working as a Social Media Coordinator for a boutique, as I managed and monitored all their social media platforms. I also helped plan and assist their promotional tradeshows and events. I have also volunteered to help plan the POM Film Festival, Pages District Fashion Show, and the ACC SummerFest. I believe that my experience and training throughout each of these projects, combined with my studies at Ryerson University has prepared me to undertake a role at a Marketing or Event Planning Firm.

I enjoy looking for new and challenging endeavours, as I don’t mind stepping outside my comfort zone, since I enjoy learning new tasks and having many types of working experiences. My work experience ranges from being a Receptionist and Assistant at a hair salon, to a Fitness Advisor at GoodLife Fitness, to working at two retail stores, being a Social Media Coordinator at a boutique, and working as an Assistant as SunLife Financial. Throughout my professions I have been asked to carry on a great deal of responsibility. Each has provided me with different skills to prepare for this moment and opportunity.
