Chris Townsend

Chris Townsend is passionate about mountains, wild places and long distance walking. A writer and photographer, he has written and illustrated over 20 books on the outdoors and writes regularly for TGO magazine and on his blog:

Chris has done many long distance walks including the 2600 mile Pacific Crest Trail, the 3100 mile Continental Divide Trail, 1300 miles south to north through Norway and Sweden, a continuous 1600 mile round of the Munros and Tops in the Scottish Highlands, the 1250 mile Pacific Northwest Trail, the 800 mile Arizona Trail and the first ever walk along the Canadian Rockies, a distance of 1600 miles.

Chris is involved with several outdoor and conservation organisations and has served as the President of the Mountaineering Council of Scotland. He is currently the Vice-President of the Backpacker’s Club.
