However, you can major in music, potentially giving you different opportunities and head stars to boost your career. It's hard to pinpoint a precise salary for a musician, as it varies between person to person. According to Googe, the average salary of a musician typically ranges between $25,000 and $127,000 a year. 5 skills an artist needs to be successful within music is, 1.) The ability to work with others. This is one of the most important things, as you need to have connections in order to go somewhere in this field. 2.) Being able to control your ego, or not having one. This is important as well, as being humble will get you a lot further than ignorance and flexing. 3.) Versatility. Versatility is super important within music because if you don't change up your style every so often, people will get bored with your craft more easily. 4.) Patience. You have to be patient with music. Everyone does not get the blessing of being a one hit wonder, having the ability to remain positive and wait your turn is essential. Patience also comes in handy while in the process of recording a song. You cannot rush this, as your results will not be as good as if you were to take your time. 5.) Promotion. Promotion is just as important as the song itself, and it is a skill you must have in order to make it far in the music scene.
