Chris Begley
Archaeologist in Lexington, Kentucky
I am an archaeologist, exploring the untold chapters of the human story, rescuing that which we have lost to the tides of time. I want to help understand our past and to share the excitement and adventure of scientific exploration.
I focus on underwater archaeology these days, but have years of experience in the Mosquitia of Honduras as a terrestrial archaeologist.
I was a Fulbright Scholar, a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow, was recently named a National Geographic Explorer, and one of The 50 Most Adventurous Men by Men's Journal magazine. My work has been featured in several documentaries, magazines, and books, including the book Jungleland.
I am the Director of the Exploration Foundation (www.explorationfoundation.org) and a professor of anthropology at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.
